The CREATE-1 Biobank aims to promote and accelerate research by making detailed data and banked biological samples available to researchers. The collected data can then be used for research on:
The causes of type 1 diabetes (e.g., risk factors and mechanisms involved in the onset and progression of type 1 diabetes)
The complications of type 1 diabetes (both short-term, such as hypoglycemia, for example, and long-term)
Lifestyle habits (e.g., studying the management of physical activity and nutrition)
Rare forms of type 1 diabetes (e.g., atypical diabetes, associated conditions)
The biobank also allows for the establishment of a cohort of individuals living with type 1 diabetes who are willing to be contacted for future projects.
2 centers in Quebec :
Any adult living with type 1 diabetes (including LADA) can participate (only exceptions: organ transplant, pregnant or lactating women, dialysis/renal transplantation).
One visit every 3 years (always in conjunction with the medical appointment)
Possibility to link detailed data and samples with those from the BETTER registry.
